Dr Nasir Iqbal is a qualified Orthopaedic surgeon from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg practicing Orthopaedic Surgery since 2007.
Dr Iqbal completed his postgraduate training at the University of Witwatersrand in 2015 and achieved his Fellowship degree in Orthopaedic surgery from the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa. He also completed his research thesis on Total hip arthroplasty through direct anterior approach & achieved Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery (MMed) degree from University of Witwatersrand in 2016.During this time he presented several papers at Orthopaedic Congresses.
He was awarded the Synthes Orthopaedic Prize from the University of Witwatersrand for his contribution to Orthopaedic department.
Dr Iqbal attended several training courses on Arthroscopy & Arthroplasty at national & international faculties.
He worked at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in 2016 & 2017 as specialist and achieved training in Pelvic fractures & Reconstruction Surgery, Hip & Knee Arthroplasty.
Dr Iqbal also worked Under Professor Lautenbach at Netcare Milpark Hospital and got training on bone infection surgery & Lautenbach Irrigation system.
Dr Iqbal is currently heading the unit of Shoulder & Sports Surgery at Helen Joseph Hospital which is one of the teaching hospital for University of Witwatersrand & offers undergraduate as well as postgraduate Orthopaedic training.
Dr Iqbal also has been performing ROBOTIC assisted kinematic total knee replacement which restores native anatomy of knee.
Dr Iqbal has been performing mini-hip ( direct anterior approach to hip replacement surgery).
